PETA's Carnivorous Benefit Sponsor

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) seems to be giving its extreme actions a break. According to The New York Post's Page Six, the group is being called hypocritical for getting sushi restaurant chain Benihana to sponsor its awards show at the Waldorf=Astoria on September 8 (where Paul McCartney is slated to present an award to Chrissie Hynde). But a PETA rep told the tabloid there's no conflict, because Benihana founder Rocky Aoki is "sympathetic to the cause and is dedicated to exploring vegan alternatives to his carnivore cuisine." Regardless of whatever veggie-loving feelings he may have, Aoki also just opened his latest Haru sushi restaurant.
