With no first lady, who's in charge of entertaining at Gracie Mansion? There's no official appointee yet, but for now, Bloomberg's deputy mayor of administration Patti Harris is overseeing event planning at Gracie Mansion in addition to her other numerous duties, replacing former hostess Irene Halligan. According to ABC 7, Harris was most recently the head of Bloomberg LP corporate communications, and New York magazine calls her "well-connected" and "graciously steely."
When we talked to Harris, she was vague about the timing of an appointment of an official host/hostess, only telling us that they will look at potential candidates once they finalize the structure of Bloomberg's staff. Because Bloomberg has opted to stay put in his lavish Upper East Side townhouse, Gracie Mansion will primarily be an official party venue and bed and breakfast for visiting dignitaries.
