Country Music Awards Start New York Takeover

In the first step of its yearlong plan to make a big splash in New York—leading up to the Country Music Awards’ first time in New York next November—the Country Music Association put country singer Julie Roberts on the lead float in the Macy’s Thankgiving Parade (that’s the giant turkey, you’ll remember). Believe it or not, the tie-in started a mere six weeks before the parade, at our own BiZBash Event Style Show. At a luncheon at the show, CMA event planner Shannon Kasakevics met Jean McFaddin of McFaddin Associates, who led the Macy’s event department for 24 years before she left in 2001. After the show, they got to talking about the awards and the parade, and the project was born.
