Gift to Caterers: Holiday Spending Is Back

The big-budget corporate holiday party is finally back, New York magazine reports (as did we). This season, caterers are reaping the rewards of strong third-quarter corporate profits, and the general sentiment that it’s not shameful to throw an extravagant bash anymore. Caterer Serena Bass recalls the same firm that had a shoestring-budget party in the office last year is renting out part of a museum for a $175,000 party this year. The Palace Hotel will host a $250,000 party for a car company. And the China Club will host a lavish corporate fete for 1,300 guests.
