The Swedes take over Central Park tonight as H&M throws a 750-seat dinner and 150-model show of its fall collection within a giant tent in Rumsey Playfield (check out today's Women's Wear Daily for a rendering of the event's entrance made of ivy and orchids). KCD Inc. is producing the huge event, which will also include performances by Kanye West and John Legend. Also tonight, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation holds its Hot Pink Party benefit—one of our Top 100 Events and the first of several stylish benefits this week—at the Waldorf=Astoria, and Vanity Fair hosts its Tribeca Film Festival party at the New York State Supreme Court. Organic Style magazine holds its Women With Organic Style awards event at Jazz at Lincoln Center, and the PEN American Center holds its Literary Gala at the American Museum of Natural History.
Tomorrow, benefits abound with the New York Academy of Art’s Tribeca Ball at Skylight, which will have decor by Dolce & Gabbana, and the New York Public Library’s Young Lions fund-raiser, which takes on a Hemingway theme called “An Affair in Havana” and is being designed by Grayson Bakula Design. Also, the Brooklyn Museum throws its Brooklyn Ball, giving guests a chance to check out its much ballyhooed Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibition.
Friday, the Tribeca Film Festival’s drive-in theater commences screenings at the north cove of the World Financial Center; they run through Sunday. The Live Well New York expo focuses on health, nutrition, and fitness at the Javits Center on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday, the Randall’s Island Sports Foundation marks the grand opening and dedication of the Icahn Stadium, and Passover begins Saturday at sundown. Monday, the Horticultural Society of New York shows off floral creations at its Flowers and Design gala at Cipriani 42nd Street. And next Tuesday, the pharmaceutical industry gathers for the Interphex trade show and conference at the Javits Center (the show ends next Thursday), while luxury bridal vendors show off at 4PM Events’ Wedding Salon, which returns to Gotham Hall, with design by Event Design Associates.
