Did anyone else think New York magazine got a little BiZBashy this week with its cover story looking at the behind-the-scenes machinations of the Costume Institute gala? We liked it (we like the Adam Moss-retooled mag a lot, actually), even if the piece seemed to poke a little fun at the event planning process. But the details were interesting—how Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour picked designer David Monn, but revamped his plan for roses with gardenias; how Wintour sent Glorious Food’s Sean Driscoll to Paris to research the menu; how Monn conducted his “Gardenia Death Watch” to test the exact lifespan of gardenias shipped via refrigerated jet from Florida and California … OK, so maybe poking a little fun is understandable. Here’s our report on the event.
