Spinnato to Head Javits Center

Governor George Pataki’s administration appointed Hotel Association of New York City president Joseph E. Spinnato to head the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, The New York Times reported. Spinnato replaces Robert Boyle, who was abruptly fired recently. Assemblyman Richard L. Brodsky, chairman of a legislative committee that oversees the Javits Center, told The Times the removal reflected “political interference” and the state’s “bungling” of the Javits expansion project.
