A Cozy North African Bistro

Jacques Ouari replaced the Mediterranean restaurant Porcupine in NoLIta with a new restaurant, Jacques, and a subterranean lounge, Gibraltar, in April. Upstairs, an intimate and cozy bistro serves French fare with North African influences on classic wooden tables and chairs. The 10-table lower level (pictured) is a small and cozy lounge accessed through a wood and iron door. Shades of blue, purple, and red are used throughout the space that is furnished with comfortable banquettes and low tables. Jacques seats 80 or holds 125 for receptions and Gibraltar holds 100 for receptions. —Anna Sekula
