The Daily News is reporting that an 80-year-old Little Italy tradition is meeting some resistance. The Community Board 2 street events committee has voted not to grant permits for the neighborhood’s Feast of San Gennaro, an annual 11-day festival in honor of the patron saint of Naples. Friends of the event can find comfort in knowing that the committee does not have final say on such matters; the City Hall Community Assistance Unit does. (The Board and its committees provide nonbinding recommendations.) An April 17 vote will determine the Board’s advice to City Hall regarding issuing the permits.
