IMG announced today that Maureen Reidy will join its fashion division as chief operating officer, beginning July 9. Reidy is currently New York City's chief marketing officer and the president and C.E.O. of NYC Big Events, a city organization that works to lure high-profile events to New York.
"About six to eight weeks ago, I started thinking about returning to the private sector and exploring new opportunities," Reidy said. "This opportunity at IMG came up so quickly, but it’s something that you just can’t turn down."
In her new post, Reidy will be responsible for day-to-day operational and management functions at IMG Fashion, which oversees Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and other events, as well as fashion-themed publications and programming. She will report to Chuck Bennett, senior corporate vice president of IMG Fashion, and work with Fern Mallis, the senior vice president of IMG Fashion responsible for all of IMG's domestic fashion events. Before her NYC Big Events post, Reidy also worked as the chief operating officer of the NYC Host Committee 2004, where she marshaled resources in the public and private sectors to work with the Republican National Convention. “It has been my greatest honor to work for Mayor Bloomberg for the past five years," Reidy said. "I took this job after September 11 and thought I would do it for one year, and now I’ve been here for five years. It far exceeded all my expectations."
