"Is Korn still around? I thought they were long gone," said a passerby as a crowd gathered outside the Armed Forces Recruiting Station on 43rd Street and Broadway yesterday morning. Indeed, the band is still around, and the group came to New York to generate news. Their gimmick? A mock cornfield in the middle of Times Square, where the three band members announced that they will fuel all their tour vehicles with biodiesel and that they will partner with the USO to give free concert tickets to soldiers.

Did it work? The photographers were fighting for space in the press area, the stunt garnered an article on MTV.com and several blog mentions, and—naturally—a lot of tourists on double-decker buses witnessed the action firsthand.
