Gucci is looking to make a bit of history with its February 6 fund-raiser, which will be held on the North Lawn of the United Nations headquarters on the East River. The space has never hosted an event of this kind (though the Delegates Dining Room in one of the site’s four buildings is regularly available for events) and is technically considered international soil.
WWD reports that the benefit will raise money for the United Nation’s Children Fund (Unicef) and will accompany the opening of Gucci’s 45,000-square-foot flagship on Fifth Avenue. Gucci creative director Frida Giannini will chair the event, along with a slew of celebrities including Unicef ambassadors Sarah Jessica Parker and Lucy Liu.
