There are two opportunities for New Yorkers—and curious out-of-towners—to network with peers and learn about event industry trends this winter.
First up, the Council of Protocol Executives' biennial Eventpower seminar is scheduled for February 26 at the Time Warner Center's 10 on the Park. The daylong event has a lineup of speakers including former New York Times food critic Frank Bruni and Blue Hill co-owner David Barber. Registration, which closes February 21, is $200 for COPE members and $400 for non-members.
Then, in March, seasoned event planners and stylists Preston Bailey and Marcy Blum will host their first mentoring weekend, called "The Process." Scheduled for March 5 to 7, the intimate workshop series only has room for 40 attendees—all of whom will get a two-night stay at the Standard Hotel with their registration fee. The three-day event also includes a cocktail reception, a visit to Bailey's design studio, and several cultural and culinary experiences distinct to New York. Interested parties who can commit to the $5,000 fee are invited to apply for one of 40 spots at the duo's new Web site.
