Pantone has inspired many an event color scheme, but the Hofstra Alumni gala on May 2 had special reason to reference the color authority. The event, which took place at the Hofstra Arena, honored the class of 1951's Lawrence Herbert, C.E.O. of Pantone and founder of its legendary color-matching system. Bestek Lighting & Staging designer Van Allen Rice and his team used the matching system as inspiration for the evening's design, which included custom "color chips" as the lighting fixtures. The installation included half a mile of lighting truss suspended from the arena's ceiling.
