1. VH1 PLANS 6 SUPER BOWL CONCERTS: VH1 will hold six concerts—one in each New York City borough plus one in New Jersey—with acts such as Janelle Monáe and Gavin DeGraw and including preshows outdoors with marching bands and dance performances. Billboard: “We wanted to celebrate the fact that it’s not only in New York and New Jersey for the first time, and it’s an opportunity to do an outdoors, against-the-elements kind of show,” said VH1 president Tom Calderone. “We’ll be outside whether it’s 32 degrees or minus 5.” http://bit.ly/1cJFQjO
2. SUNDANCE TO STREAM A DAILY SHOW DURING FESTIVAL: This year’s Sundance Film Festival will air a daily, hour-long show on its YouTube channel with interviews, film excerpts, and coverage of events like premieres and panels—all produced by the public relations agency Weber Shandwick. New York Times: “‘Live@Sundance’ will build upon experience that Weber Shandwick has developed since last year, [firm executive Gail] Heimann said, when the agency introduced a service it calls GoLive, which produces live shows that brands offer to consumers on platforms in digital and social media. Weber Shandwick has produced more than 20 such shows, she added, for clients that include Mobil 1, sold by Exxon Mobil; Ocean Spray; and Verizon.”
3. INSPIRED BY CRONUT, BAKERY CREATES THE CROGEL: Trying to capitalize on last year’s cronut craze, the Connecticut bakery Stew Leonard’s has created the “crogel,” a croissant and bagel hybrid.
Gothamist: “Here's how they did it: shape croissant dough into the size of a bagel, then kettle boil and hearth baked it. Crispy on the outside ... buttery and flaky inside!" http://bit.ly/19VKoGd
