1. MORE THAN 90 CONCERTGOERS HOSPITALIZED IN CONNECTICUT: On Friday night, during the Hot 93.7 Hot Jam concert at Xfinity Theatre in Hartford, Connecticut, at least 90 people were taken to the hospital and another 50 were charged with underage drinking. A large number of the patients were reportedly underage concertgoers who were experiencing severe intoxication. Hartford Courant: "'A 'typical' concert is around 20-30 transports. 60 would be very bad. We had 70 once and 90 last night,' [the town's deputy police chief Brian Foley] said. 'It depends on the act that is in town and the fan base age.' Hartford Fire Capt. Raul Ortiz said the 'constant cycling of transports' overwhelmed the department." http://cour.at/2uNDxxr
2. POKéMON GO FEST ATTENDEES GET REFUNDS DUE TO TECH GLITCHES: Attendees at a Pokémon Go festival in Chicago's Grant Park on Saturday weren't able to access Wi-Fi on their mobile devices in sections of the park, making it difficult to play the game. Because of the tech glitches, game creator Niantic issued ticket refunds, as well as $100 in game currency and free game features. The trainers—the name for Pokémon players—had been promised never-before-seen Pokémon, and tickets to the fest had sold out in 10 minutes. CNN: "'Today at Pokemon GO Fest in Chicago, technical issues created problems for a large number of players attending the event,' a Niantic spokesperson said in a statement. 'From everyone at Niantic, we apologize to all of the Trainers who came out to Pokemon GO Fest today. Although we were able to solve many of the technical issues, we were not able to offer every attendee a great experience.'" http://cnn.it/2unKOTL
3. SAMSUNG ANNOUNCES DATE FOR UNPACKED EVENT: Samsung recently announced the date for its next Unpacked event: August 23. The show will likely include the debut of the Note 8, despite rumors that the tech company would discontinue the product after the Note 7's battery disaster. TechCrunch: "There was some speculation in the wake of fallout that Samsung might abandon the Note name altogether, but prior to the exploding battery saga, the product was one of the company’s most popular global offerings.
