Rosie O'Donnell and Susan Ungaro, editor in chief of Family Circle magazine, appeared at a press conference at the Essex House to announce the relaunch of McCall's magazine as a vehicle for O'Donnell, perhaps named Rosie's McCall's. The new magazine, which will hit newsstands in the spring of 2001, is the result of a combined effort by G&J USA, the company that publishes the 125-year old McCall's and O'Donnell's company, KidRo Productions.
G&J publicist Allison Spiegel organized the press conference.
When asked how her magazine will compare with Oprah Winfrey's new magazine and Martha Stewart's Martha Stewart Living, O'Donnell said Rosie's McCall's will be "less spiritual than Oprah's magazine and more creatively realistic than Martha's magazine."
