Although Hef and his usual bevy of buxom bunnies decided to forgo the Magazine Publishers of America's (MPA) cocktail party at the Playboy Lounge on Fifth Avenue, approximately 100 magazine public relations personnel and members of the trade press they frequently work with gathered there for a small networking event. Alison Raleigh of Playboy and Ronni Faust, MPA's vice president of marketing communications and public relations, organized the event.
Rabbit ears and fluffy tails were eschewed for mostly business attire worn by representatives from The New York Times, Spin magazine, Crain's, MediaWeek, Newsweek, The New York Post and other publications. This event, one of several networking events thrown by the MPA, featured beverages and hors d'oeuvres such as California rolls and white.phparagus tips wrapped in smoked salmon from Lyn's Cafe Caterers. The allure of the Playboy name--and the potential for some Playmate-spotting--even drew some non-industry folk. Faust told us that some Knicks players got wind of the party and asked if they could stop by.
According to Raleigh, the Playboy Lounge, located on the 23rd floor of the building on 730 Fifth, is often used for Playboy parties, photo shoots, interviews and meetings. The expansive rooftop deck offers a fantastic view of Central Park.
