Sitting on 16 acres of maritime coastal hammock just four miles from downtown St. Augustine and available for music, film, dance, theater, and family events from March to December, the St. Augustine Amphitheatre—which will open on August 31—is set to offer a concert experience complete with four concession areas, nature trails, V.I.P. amenities, a conference room, and a plaza. Accessible during all kinds of weather, a unique truss-supported tensile Teflon-coated fiberglass canopy will cover 2,500 seats in the 4,500-capacity seating area. The facility will also offer a 60- by 38- by 30-foot covered proscenium stage, three large dressing rooms, two V.I.P. dressing rooms with private restrooms and showers, two production offices with Wi-Fi, a 16- by 24-foot screened porch attached to the backstage area, and a 30- by 60-foot conference room that can hold as many as 100 people for specific kinds of events (V.I.P. receptions, meet and greets, small conferences, and private parties). The venue's box office will have eight ticket windows, two of which are handicap-accessible. Two grassy areas on top of the seating bowl will be available for V.I.P. party rentals during shows, and flexible options such as a tent or chairs can be set up to accommodate any occasion. The facility comes equipped with specially designed house lights, a sound system, and a 32- by 18-foot movie screen. There is an arboretum with extensive trail system linked to neighboring Anastasia State Park and Recreation Facility.
