Last week, the Phoenix Lounge at the Wit Hotel opened on the downtown property's mezzanine. Available for buyout, the semiprivate space seats 45 amid black velvet lounge chairs, leather sofas, and blue resin tables.
At the bar, servers prepare classic cocktails such as Manhattans, Sazeracs, and pisco sours. Mediterranean-inspired small plates come from the kitchen of adjacent restaurant Cibo Matto, and include tuna tartare, veal meatballs, and artichoke bruschetta.
Staffers can also arrange for live entertainment on the so-called "perch," a landing on the glass staircase that joins the lobby to the Phoenix Lounge. The hotel's roster of performers includes up-and-coming jazz vocalists and instrumentalists.
