1. HOW INSTAGRAM IS CHANGING FASHION SHOWS: With nearly every fashion show attendee armed with a smartphone and an Instagram account, the live experience has changed to offer theatrics and camera-friendly clothes. The New York  Times: “Creating a unique—and, by extension, shareable—experience for jaded showgoers has become part of a designer’s mandate. Shows are designed to wow not only those in attendance, but also all of their followers. (That could be considered a necessary return on investment because, according to Julie Mannion, the president for creative services at the public relations and production firm KCD, a major show can cost $2 million to $8 million, in some cases reaching as much as $10 million, and last fewer than 10 minutes.)”

2. SEE THIS CRAZY VIRAL SAVE-THE-DATE VIDEO: There is nothing subtle about the save-the-date video for a San Francisco wedding this summer, from the Gatsby-like party and the Bollywood dancers to the smoke machines and the helicopter ride over the city. The short film, from Major Diamond Productions, has made it an easy target for critics. 3. ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME HOSTS TAME CEREMONY: Had the original members of the band Kiss reconciled for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, all anyone would be talking about would be their performance. Instead, the headline from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn was the roster of female singers who sang in place of Kurt Cobain during Nirvana’s set (Joan Jett , Lorde, Kim Gordon, and St Vincent). CHICAGO:  On April 27, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago will host its Blossoms of Hope Brunch. Monica Pederson of NBC’s American Dream Builders will host, and the event will take place at Drury Lane of Oakbrook Terrace.

About Face Theatre’s Wonka Ball is May 9 at Macy’s. The theme is “the Gayme Show.”

LAS VEGAS:  The M Resort’s main pool and entertainment complex, Villaggio del Sole, will open on April 25, while the adult day club, DayDream, is slated to open April 26.

Kaskade will return to Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub with a redesigned Summer Lovin’ residency this summer.

LOS ANGELES:  The rapper Drake will host the ESPYs July 16 at the Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live; the show will air on ESPN.

The Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles announced Thursday that singer Lance Bass and actress Pauley Perrette will co-host the third annual Voice Awards on May 3 at the Globe Theater on the Universal Studios back lot.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting big hotel news for the future: "Beverly Hills Waldorf Astoria, the luxury chain's first new U.S. outpost west of Chicago, have been unveiled with a flourish by local hotelier Beny Alagem. The 12-story Waldorf Astoria will stand at the intersection of Santa Monica and Wilshire boulevards next to the Beverly Hilton hotel. It will be a flagship for the Hilton company's top hotel brand, said Christopher Nassetta, chief executive of Hilton Worldwide. … Preliminary work is underway, and the grand hotel is expected to open in 2017.” http://lat.ms/PV4Az1
