August 11, 2014: Teen Choice Awards' Red Carpet Photo Booth, See a $900 Cupcake, Should Gun Shows Sell Alcohol?

1. TEEN CHOICE AWARDS' RED CARPET PHOTO BOOTH: Instagram sponsored a space-age photo booth at the Teen Choice Awards Sunday, drawing celebrities who then posted the images to the social media site. Hollywood Reporter: “Social photo booths are au courant at award shows these days, so Instagram switched things up with a beach-themed booth that was decked out to look like the snap-happy stars were floating in the air. Many of the nominees shared the photos—which could be rotated to achieve the anti-gravity effect—with their fans. The photos were also shown on-air during the live broadcast from the Shrine Auditorium on Fox.” http://bit.ly/1lOvp15

2. SEE A $900 CUPCAKE: To celebrate his wife’s birthday, a man asked Toronto’s Le Dolci bakery to make a very special cupcake. The result? A $900 confection that included 24-karat gold flakes, limited-edition Courvoisier cognac, and French sea salt. The Globe and Mail: “The cupcake required the work of two pastry chefs, a cake designer, two days of labour and many hours of consultation and planning.” http://bit.ly/1stLUH7

3. SHOULD GUN SHOWS SELL ALCOHOL?: The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission is considering whether to allow alcohol sales at gun shows in the state. Associated Press: “Under current rules, if a gun show is held at a venue licensed to sell alcohol, drinks sales and consumption are suspended during the time it takes to set up, conduct and dismantle the gun show. The commission is considering the proposal after getting a request from a Dallas-Fort Worth area gun club to change its rules. It will hold a 30-day public comment period before any change is made.” http://huff.to/1lOwcPA
