Beer, babes and games served as entertainment—and decor—at the testosterone-friendly post-Grammy awards party for nominees Nelly and 'NSync (a rap and pop odd couple who teamed up for a song last year). Sponsored by the Palms Las Vegas Casino, the party had—you guessed it—a casino theme, and filled Capitale with gaming tables from Casinos by Duro. Two high roller V.I.P. areas had private bars for the guests of honor.
Among guy-friendly touches were straightforward snacks—tortilla chips from a sombrero, anyone?—and drop-down projection screens showing clips of Sacramento Kings' basketball games. And the Ice Art ice sculptures included a seven-foot tall, 800-pound bottle of Coors Lite (another sponsor).
"This is a man's party," said one PR rep working the event when the scantily clad showgirls from co-sponsor Stuff magazine arrived. Instead of handing out gift bags, the men's mag coordinated the prize redemption center, a station where guests cashed in their Nelly-branded chips for prizes like Pony shirts, Bobbi Brown makeup (for the girlfriends?) and signed sports memorabilia.
