On Tuesday afternoon, the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs hosted a press conference at Macy's to reveal the details of Fashion Focus 2009  (No. 1 on our list of Top Fashion & Retail Industry Events).

Beginning on October 22, the four-day event will include three headline fashion shows in Millennium Park. One, hosted by Macy's, will be devoted to Chicago designers; another show, dubbed "Dress Code," will present the work of local fashion-school students; and Gen Art will again host its Fresh Faces in Fashion show. Along with the marquee events, three smaller runway shows will take place throughout the city and will showcase the work of Chicago-based indie designers.

Nolcha, an organization that promotes independent and emerging fashion designers, has partnered with Fashion Focus to host its first Chicago Retail Week, an event centered on in-store happenings and promotional sales, from October 19th to October 25th. More information on Fashion Focus 2009 is available here.
