Event Design

The Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario hosted its annual gala at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex on April 20, and the innocent, whimsical nature of the fund-raiser's beneficiaries inspired the evening's vibe. Lounge furniture was asymmetrically positioned and sectioned off into areas that held pink, yellow, or purple rentals, and giant pinwheels hung overhead.

#2 Advertising Industry Event (up from #3)
After returning to New York in 2010, the revamped award ceremony, held at the American Museum of Natural History, has reestablished itself as the industry's highest honor. Next: May 15, 2013

For Dos Equis's "Most Interesting Masquerade," held in Chelsea's historic Masonic Hall in New York and produced by Mirrorball, body painter Craig Tracy drew half a lion's face on the sides of two models. When the models sat back-to-back inside a gold picture frame, the full face of the lion was visible and formed the backdrop of a photo op.

Hundreds of balloons from Balloon Trix hung from the ceiling during the V.I.P. dinner. The space changed colour with each course, starting with blue, morphing to pink for the main course, changing to orange for dessert, and ending in red.

At the culinary event at New York's Pranna on April 2, large marquee letters spelling out "Food & Wine" surrounded a lounge area.

Hammer Museum’s Gala in the Garden moves back to October this year (after a September shift in 2011), and will this year honor artists Barbara Kruger and Cindy Sherman. Next: October 6, 2012
