Upon arriving, patrons walked the red carpet as hired photographers acting as paparazzi snapped pictures. To get to the heart of the scene, patrons were ushered through the museum's indoor space toward the open air area out back, passing silent auction items and an electric blue Mini Cooper donated by Braman. "At MOCA, we do not spend money to raise money," said MOCA director Bonnie Clearwater, who oversaw the planning of the event. "Just about everything we raise goes to our programs. We are fortunate to have found great sponsors."
Guests were fed by Mena Catering, Le Basque, Delicias de Espana, Grand Bay Club, Pasha's Chocolate Mousse, the Sonesta Beach Resort Key Biscayne. Bacardi USA donated the bar, Turi Vodka gave cocktails to the cause and Borrow a Bartender served it all up. Orange and white tables and chairs were set on the lawn, and buffet and bar tables lined the perimeter. Balloons, Brillo pad boxes with legs sticking out of the top and stacked Campbell's soup cans served as creatively constructed centerpieces.
Lighting pro Jessica Bennett set the mod mood for models dressed in Max Mara clothes by lighting the back walls with cool red lights in swirl patterns. Standing on low pedestals, the lights were projected onto the walls as a backdrop, and although the temperature dropped considerably, the models changed outfits a number of times then went back to their perches, as guests continued to watch the fashion show, dance, eat and drink.
