Law firm Baker McKenzie's holiday bash at the Carlu was stylish and luxurious. Taking advantage of the Carlu's Art Deco architecture, Opulence Catering and Events filled the venue with luxurious table linens and lush floral decor, creating an elegant environment for the 200-person event.
Guests began their evening in the Sky Room for drinks and appetizers. Opulence Catering and Events' predinner menu included duck confit with quince squash served in edible spoons made of wonton dough, herbed potato rounds topped with lobster medallions, and "Caesar teasers," Parmesan crisps filled with romaine lettuce and topped with bacon and croutons.
Speeches and the main course took place in the Round Room, known for its history and Art Deco appeal. Dim lighting accented the earthy palette of the decor. Luxe Linens' chocolate-coloured tablecloths complemented Earthworks' eye-catching centrepieces of full white blooms with exposed stems.
Dinner included slow-roasted butternut squash and Anjou pear soup, Angus beef tenderloin with grilled polenta and woodland mushroom balsamic, and baby vegetables. Alternately, some guests enjoyed an Asian five-spice halibut on a bed of ginger wasabi rice with baby bok choi and mixed baby vegetables.
Lastly, Opulence offered a dessert trio of vanilla risotto with caramelized pear, ganache-drizzled chocolate-mousse-filled crepes, and berries and cream.
