Events with a teatime theme have been popping up lately, from sophisticated magazine fetes to launch events.
Glamour hosted a “Morning Tea and Touchups” event for magazine editors during Fashion Week in September at the Royalton Hotel. Muffins, croissants, and bagels were served on three-tiered, wrought iron trays.
Vogue and the Council of Fashion Designers of America marked the end of Los Angeles Fashion Week in October with a fashion show followed by a tea party at the Chateau Marmont. The hotel catered the event with a decadent array of desserts on silver platters.
The launch event for tennis star Anna Sharapova’s fragrance at the Angel Orensanz Foundation at the start of the U.S. Open in August had a girlie English garden tea party theme. Creative Edge Parties served tea and tea-infused cocktails in mismatched porcelain tea cups.
In October the Carlyle Hotel launched Madeline-theme teatimes for kids inside Bemelmans Bar. At the September 30 kickoff event, three-tiered serving platters topped with ham sandwiches and madeleine cookies accompanied heavy-duty teacups and saucers for little hands.
