Candy Fifer, the marketing coordinator at Mizner Park, turned to the popular clothing stores and restaurants of the outdoor shopping plaza to create a fashion-inspired event to benefit the Boca Raton Museum of Art and the Centre for the Arts. "We wanted an event that would coincide with a special South Florida insert in Harper's Bazaar's November issue," Fifer said. "Fashion was an obvious theme, and a great way to promote the merchants of Mizner Park at the same time." Postponed in November due to damages from Hurricane Wilma, the rescheduled event went on without a hitch.
The evening began on the stage of the Count de Hoernle Amphitheater, which was filled with cocktail tables covered in red linens matched with black chairs with zebra-print sashes. Over 300 guests, a mix of the magazine's subscribers plus supporters of the museum and center, listened to the Jeff Kaye Jazz Trio while sipping wine paired with chocolates from Galler, the Belgian Chocolatier.
Harper's Bazaar merchandising editor Jane Loddo and Bryce Daniels from WPBF News 25 announced the latest fashion trends, courtesy of retailers such as Banana Republic, Bolufe, Chico's, Jami's, and JCC, from a talk show setup furnished with a mod red sofa accented with zebra-striped pillows, a coffee table, zebra-print slipper chairs with black fringe, and a black and white rug from furniture company Robb & Stucky.
The guests went on to enjoy a cocktail reception in the art museum's sculpture garden, where they enjoyed sushi rolls from Soba, smoked salmon cheesecake from Max's Grille, and pork tenderloin on plantain chips with mango, papaya, and pineapple salsa from Catering by Creative Affairs. The event concluded with a fashion show—naturally—held inside the museum.
