To debut designer Caroline Dadlani's Palace Collection, Stacey Renee Benedetti, senior account executive of fashion division at TARA Ink., chose the Sagamore Hotel's penthouse as a backdrop. Benedetti warmed up the chic white space with exotic accents from India."I took inspiration from Dadlani's collection, which embraces Indian and European traditions and craftsmanship, and her Zen-like boutique. I wanted to recreate that warm, soothing feel at the Sagamore," Benedetti said.
The opulent jewelry—over-the-top chandelier earrings and rings Zsa Zsa Gabor would adore—was displayed among natural decor such as orchids and wooden trays. A large seashell filled with black sand held sparkling diamond and semi-precious rings.
The entire penthouse became a display case for Dadlani's designs. From the entertainment console to the coffee table to the armoire in the bedroom, each area was dripping with ornate necklaces, bracelets, handbags, apparel, and accessories from India and Europe. More than 120 local fashionistas browsed the merchandise. A portion of the proceeds went to the Hugs & Kisses for the Miami Children's Foundation.
Besides Dadlani's eye candy, guests sipped champagne and cocktails and nibbled on hors d'oeuvres set up in the outdoor lounge area. Prepared by the chefs at Social Miami, the hotel's hot new restaurant, the petite bites also had some Indian flavor to them. Mini crab cakes with honey mustard jicama slaw, Tandoori chicken skewers with mint yogurt dip, curried vegetable samosas with cilantro chutney, and lobster wontons with soy ginger dipping sauce were some of the tempting items around.
