Who'da thunk it? Home appliances that don't just cook and clean but turn heads, too. For the launch of its new line of digital appliances, Samsung Electronics Canada decorated the Distillery District's Fermenting Cellar with household vignettes featuring the latest Samsung washers, dryers, refrigerators, and microwave ovens. Patty Chung, Samsung?s corporate communications and hospitality manager, worked with Apex Public Relations to organize the dinner for 75 Samsung employees and local dealers.
Chung said she deliberately chose a restrained approach to the decor "So that the appliances would be the visual focal point." The dining area was elegant, but casual, with guests seated on bar stools at high communal tables from Contemporary Furniture Rentals. In keeping with the theme of simplicity, Gibson & Lyle Catering With Style served high quality but unassuming appetizers such as sushi pizza with lightly seared salmon on crispy rice cakes, and chips and dip made of golden lattice potato topped with herbed ch?vre mousse and chive oil.
Dinner began with a Bibb lettuce salad with poached.phparagus spears, lemon and herb vinaigrette, and parmesan sabayon. The main course, served on square plates from Chair-man Mills, was a breast of roasted chicken with woodland mushroom jus, warm truffle potato salad, and green beans and sweet pepper confetti. Dessert was a serving of vanilla bean cr?me br?ul?e with sugar-dusted field berries.
