The Week in Events: Audi's Miami Car, Giant Flowers at Art Basel, Speedo's Dancing Swimmers, Nintendo at Auto Show

Attendees entering Design Miami's pavilion Wednesday explored "Genesis," designer of the year David Adjaye's wooden interactive installation.

At Design Miami, Audi created a futuristic installation to unveil the brand's A2 e-tron concept car on an interactive LED surface.

The Sagamore and Paul Kasmin Gallery selected artist Will Ryman's "65th Street" colossal flower installation to be featured on the hotel's beachfront for the 10th anniversary of Art Basel Miami Beach.

Another Art Basel satellite fair, Graffiti Gone Global, featured artist Marc Fornes' "Labrys Frisae," a non-linear structure resembling three-dimensional graffiti at the installation unveiling Thursday at the Rotunda Space in Midtown Miami.

Swimwear brand Speedo took over Skylight SoHo in New York on Wednesday for a press conference previewing its new Fastskin III collection. The event, which brought out Olympic swim champions Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, and Natalie Coughlin, included an energetic runway show involving dancers in the swimming gear.

Nintendo made its first-ever appearance at an automotive trade show at the Los Angeles Auto Show, where it unveiled life-size models of two Mario Kart-inspired vehicles. The brand teamed with West Coast Customs to create two karts in celebration of the December 4 release of Mario Kart 7 for the portable Nintendo 3DS

Yahoo News D.C. celebrated the one-year countdown to the 2012 presidential election and the outlet’s year of upcoming coverage with a reception on November 9 for 300 public relations executives, press secretaries, and policy makers on the roof of the 101 Constitution building in Washington. Dufour & Company Productions worked with Atmosphere Lighting, Occasions Caterers, and A Vista Events to transform the open-air venue with red and blue lighting and decor—representing both political parties—as well as the two colors that make Yahoo's purple logo.

Chef Bobby Flay helped out one of the competing amateur chefs on stage at Chef's Challenge for a Cure in Toronto. The top 60 fund-raisers cooked in teams led by local chefs. The event, produced by Solutions with Impact, raised $1.2 million for Mount Sinai Hospital.
