After a long wait and a monthlong soft opening, District Doughnut finally opened its doors to its retail storefront in Barracks Row in September. Fall-inspired flavors include caramel apple streusel and chai tea crème brûlée.

Florist Sai Souphom is the owner of Washington’s first floral truck—a very colorful mobile flower shop. When Souphom isn’t driving her truck from Georgetown to Capital Hill, she’s working on providing floral arrangements for events through her brick-and-mortar company, Saivita. She recently designed the floral decor for an Education First event at Union Market.

In Dupont Circle, JRINK Juicery whips up all-natural, cold-press juices with five pounds of fruits and vegetables per 16-ounce glass bottle. The second-floor juice bar offers make-your-own six-packs from $50 with 14 flavors to choose from, including blends of orange, carrot, and grapefruit with ginger or spinach, kale, raw almonds, cinnamon, and vanilla with agave.

New to the Capitol Riverfront is Ice Cream Jubilee, a gourmet ice cream shop run by a former attorney, that opened this summer. Victoria Lai offers flavors with a taste of fall, like banana bourbon cream, sweet potato pie, and pear brandy. Ice Cream Jubilee hand-packs pints of any flavor in the shop.

Located in a historic warehouse in northeast Washington, Jo Oliver and Robb Stout’s multidisciplinary creative studio Highway to Hill offers bespoke floral and graphic design projects for private and corporate clients. They also teach Flower School: hands-on small group classes where students learn to create an arrangement with seasonal flowers and fruits.
