The newly opened Markham Event Centre—located north of the city in downtown Markham—is catering to the neighbourhood's ethnic population by offering a variety of multicultural menus. The 18,000-square-foot venue, officially opened by the Ambassador Group and the Remington Group last Thursday, has a number of set menus for meetings and corporate events.
"One thing we're trying to focus on is the multicultural aspect because of our location in Markham," said director of business development Christina Li. "We're not just offering Continental-style [menu options]; we also do Chinese and Indian."The facility includes two ballrooms, accessed via the main foyer and decorated in a neutral colour palette of pale green and cream with gold accents. The ballrooms can be booked separately or joined to create one large reception room, which can accommodate 1,200 people.
