Last week Zagat announced its 2009 survey for the Washington area, which gave Makoto the top slot for food. The 25-seat traditional Japanese restaurant in the Palisades, which has a no-shoes requirement in its intimate wood-paneled dining space, beat out the previous winner, the Inn at Little Washington. (The Inn recently marked its 30th anniversary, and now holds second place.)
Other winners: Michel Richard's Citronelle took the most popular eatery spot, and Wolfgang Puck's the Source came out as the top-rated newcomer.
