Film industry veteran Canada Gordon and baking consultant David Guas recently opened Red Velvet Cupcakery, which offers eight flavors, including Southern Belle, a signature red velvet confection topped with cream cheese icing, and Devil’s Food, a chocolate buttermilk cake with bittersweet chocolate ganache topped with a smidge of edible gold leaf. At the Penn Quarter shop, individual cupcakes are $3.25 ($36 per dozen), with discount pricing for orders of 250 or more. For catering, custom flavors and designs are available. Red Velvet delivers to offices and businesses in the neighborhood for a $10 fee on orders of one dozen or more.
