For a sweet meeting break or a fun, casual event offering, Locali caters frozen desserts from its Icycle dessert tricycle delivery cart, offering treats from local food purveyors and pre-packaged raw vegan foods and health beverages. Inventory includes Carmela ice cream sandwiches, Pop Shop vegan artisan popsicles, Tomberlies raw vegan ice creams, and Soy Delicious soy ice cream. The folks from Locali also make their own organic snow cones with low-glycemic brown rice or xylitol syrup and purified crushed ice—as well as alcoholic versions for the 21-and-up set. Dessert prices range from 75 cents to $5.00 each, depending on the item.
Until Labor Day, the Icycle will roam the Eastside of L.A.—including Larchmont Village, Silverlake, Hollywood, Los Feliz, Highland Park, Echo Park, and downtown—but it will also make stops all over Los Angeles and Orange Counties for special events beyond the summer months. (The cart has appeared at events like the Tory Burch boutique opening in Malibu and the Arts in the Park event sponsored by councilman Eric Garcetti's office).
