1. Television chef Martin Yan opened M.Y. China, a 7,000-square-foot modern Chinese eatery, inside the Westfield Center near Union Square in December. The restaurant has a full exhibition kitchen and seating for 180, plus a menu focused on dim sum and hand-pulled noodles.
2. The signature restaurant at the W San Francisco Hotel, Trace reopened in late 2011 with a focus on green, locally sourced cuisine and a completely new interior with city-block pattern walls and floor-length drapery. The restaurant is available for buyouts and seats 90.
3. Popular local bakery mini-chain La Boulange opened a new outpost in the Westfield San Francisco Centre in September. With a dramatic setting underneath the center’s 102-foot-wide glass dome, the 1,600-square-foot venue is available for evening events, with a standing capacity of 150.
4. The team behind local seafood restaurant Woodhouse Fish Company plans to take over the long-vacant Marina Degaussing Station on the Marina Green overlooking Alcatraz Island in 2013.
