1. SFJazz, the organization behind the San Francisco Jazz Festival, was slated to open its first permanent home, the SFJazz Center in January. The $60 million facility in Hayes Valley has a 700-seat performance hall, plus an 80-seat multipurpose room and a sidewalk café.

2. Located inside the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, at the foot of San Francisco Bay, the historic Fort Mason Center reopened the General’s Residence in October 2011. The 18th-century building includes four distinct meeting rooms, with capacities ranging from 30 to 250.

3. Slated for a February 2013 opening, the Museum of Craft and Design is relocating to the burgeoning Dogpatch neighborhood. The new 8,000-square-foot facility is set inside the historic American Industrial Center, a three-block-long former industrial building now housing a variety of artistic tenants. The new museum will offer space for private events.

4. In early 2012, the American Conservatory Theatre purchased the historic Strand Theatre, an early 20th-century facility closed since 2006. The 8,200-square-foot property, set on U.N. Plaza, will be reconfigured as a smaller, 300-seat space, giving A.C.T. a second theater and event space when it opens in 2014.
