
In Chicago, Lookingglass Theatre's junior board hosted its summer benefit on August 29 at a new venue: Water Tower Works. During cocktail hour, guests sampled deviled duck eggs with bacon from local eatery Highline Bar & Lounge. D.I.Y.-style toppings included a variety of hot sauces and flavored salts.

On August 8, VH1 Save the Music Foundation hosted its benefit at a summer estate in Sagaponack, New York. The event, which featured a performance from Jason Derulo, also offered barbecue-ready snacks from Peter Callahan including corn with toppings such as lime and chili sea salt.

On August 1, Ravinia in Highland Park, Illinois, hosted its annual black-tie gala. For cocktail hour, Jewell Events Catering provided a spread of snacks that had a picnic-like presentation: a bed of grass surrounded the bites, and guests could take napkins from a miniature wooden basket.

Off site but near festival grounds, Soho House Chicago teamed up with food website and mobile app the Infatuation to host an Ice Cream Social for festivalgoers on Friday. The event included a complimentary D.I.Y. sundae bar, where toppings inspired by the hotel's eateries included melon, basil, and bits of apple pie.

Now available in Toronto through the Idea Hunter, Original Beverage Toppers are edible disks that can be branded with corporate logos, colors, and taglines. The discs float on top of hot, cold, iced, or frozen drinks and are easy to apply.

The nonprofit arts organization Performa celebrated its 10th anniversary with a Renaissance-theme gala in Brooklyn on November 4. "Death of the Rubber Chicken," conceived by artist Jennifer Rubell, served as the opening act for the interactive dinner. Guests were encouraged to swat the suspended rubber chickens, which were filled with smoked paprika, in order to dust the table lined with deviled eggs below.
