Wolfgang Puck Catering created a “chef shadowbox” station for an event at the Perot Museum of Science and Nature in Dallas. There, a chef prepared appetizers as guests viewed the behind-the-scenes action.

For the launch of the catering and event program at New York’s WTC860 - Riviera at the World Trade event space in December 2015, Riviera Caterers built a 24-foot-long, 8-foot-high pretzel wall. The interactive wall held 600 pretzels of different flavors, including garlic parsley, cheddar, cinnamon, salted, and plain, along with dipping sauces. The setup is customizable and can be converted for a variety of displays such as a salad or bagel bar.

For an eye-catching and tasty catering idea, Pinch Food Design in New York offers freshly baked cracker pillows broken open with maracas to reveal a Greek salad of feta, fried eggplant, corn, and cucumber with oregano vinaigrette.

Occasions also catered MSNBC's after-party at the United States Institute of Peace. There were multiple flights of food for the buffets as well as fixed and roaming specialty stations. One of the roaming stations featured traditional and sweet potato french fries with a variety of toppings including chili, cheddar cheese, parmesan cheese, truffle oil, onion, and cheese curds.

Occasions staffers dressed like hot dog vendors wandered throug the party at Long View Gallery with mini hot dogs and traditional toppings of relish, mustard, and ketchup.

A Table With Risers

Party Rental Ltd. adds more space to buffet tables by displaying platters and other items on risers. "Table Risers are great for providing extra surface area without adding another full table," says a company rep. "If you don’t have the space to expand horizontally, go vertical."

Buffet Table Stands

Party Rental Ltd. also rents out stands to use on buffet tables beneath bowls and trays. "Strategically using the stands under certain items—for example, harder-to-reach items in the back of a display—can even help the lines flow easier," says the rep.

Kennedy Center Opera Ball

The John F. Kennedy Center Opera Ball took place May 21 at the Organization of American States in Washington. For the event, in which the Washington National Opera celebrated a diamond anniversary, Occasions Caterers and Design Foundry created a custom hanging dessert buffet.
