More than 120 guests ate heartily in a winter wonderland setting at the Great Hall during real estate developer Canderel Stoneridge's annual employee holiday party. Company planners Joan Marzo and Mary Cseledes worked with Edith Jakobs of Opulence Catering & Event Management to organize the event.
At the start of the evening, caterwaiters wearing T-shirts labeled with the items they were serving passed an array of hors d'oeuvres, including duck breast and quince squash served on edible spoons, and Caesar salad served in bite-size Parmesan cups. The most popular appetizers were an Opulence specialty called pipelets—morsels of cajun chicken skewered on mango coulis-filled plastic tubes. Squeeze the tube while nibbling and extra sauce dribbled onto the meat and into your mouth.
For dinner, food stations held shrimp, salad, and a choice of beef or pasta. Dessert, also served at food stations, featured a choice of mousse shooters, mini cr?me br?l?es, cookie truffles, and tempura chocolate truffles served atop vanilla ice cream.
Eden Planning supplied white floral arrangements and centrepieces with frosted white vases to give the room a wintry feel. As they departed at the end of the evening, guests received take-out coffee and gift-wrapped boxes containing samples of the desserts.
