Where to Entertain Near O\'Hare

Stacy Warden
August 5, 2008
Located within a 10-mile radius of O'Hare International Airport, these venues are suitable for entertaining travelers.

1. Bogart’s Bar & Grill, which opened in September, has become a destination spot for all types of events. Housed within Rosemont's Muvico Rosemont 18 movie theater, Bogart’s interior feeds into its cinematic surroundings with Hollywood-inspired decor and contemporary American fare. The restaurant’s main dining room seats as many as 140 and is available for full buyouts. Personalized lunch and dinner menus offer a bevy of options, including plated entrees, passed hors d’oeuvres, and carving stations. Bogart’s beverage packages include either a hosted or cash bar with top-shelf or premium brand spirits and mixers, imported and domestic brews, and house wine.
 2. Don Juan’s has been a staple in Chicago’s Edison Park community, which is about six miles by car from O'Hare Airport, for 25 years. The family-owned and -operated restaurant offers its guests everything from a la carte items like tacos and tostadas to classic Mexican dishes like cheese-stuffed poblano chiles and an assortment of ceviches. The venue’s rustic interior features terra cotta masks and traditional Mexican paintings. Oversized clay pots, oak beams, and antique chandeliers add to the restaurant’s regional feel. Don Juan’s menu reflects seasonal ingredients and can be tailored for private events. Smaller meetings are typically held in the Patricio room, which seats 35. Larger groups can opt for a full buyout, with room for as many as 100 and an additional 40 at the bar.

3. Italian restaurant Carlucci, located in Rosemont about three miles from O'Hare Airport, offers three private dining areas, including the Tamarack room, the Palio, and an auditorium with space for as many as 200. The 16th century-inspired Tamarack room holds 35 guests and boasts hand-painted European murals and exposed beams. The Palio, named after a popular Tuscan horse race, holds 150 and is slightly more upscale with its rich wood trim, chandeliers, and intricately painted ceiling. Carlucci’s auditorium is a coveted spot for speeches and lectures given its state-of-the-art theater and attached dining room, which seats 150. Specialty menus are available for lunch and dinner and can be served individually, buffet, or family style. Additionally, Carlucci, which has been open since 2006, offers custom catering services in everything from centerpieces and flowers to entertainment.

4. Less than a three-mile drive from the airport, Nick’s Fishmarket in Rosemont is a convenient meeting location for jetlagged employees. Leather banquettes and a glass-enclosed wine cellar add a touch of sophistication to this casual seafood spot, which opened in 2000. Colorful aquariums keep folks entertained in the Ocean room, which holds as many as 175. The Rose room seats 30 for smaller meetings and receptions, while a semiprivate Garden room offers space for twice as many people. In addition to fresh seafood, the restaurant’s menu also highlights dry-aged steaks and a selection of wines. Guests can choose from hors d'oeuvres, plated entrees, and carving stations with items like herb-roasted pork loin and whole smoked salmon. The entire restaurant seats 350 and is available for full buyouts.
