Jake’s American Grille opened last week in Northwest Washington, combining an American bar and restaurant atmosphere with a diversified menu of cuisine with international influences. The 5,000-square-foot venue is divided into five dining and event areas.
The main dining room, which features an open kitchen, can seat 60 people amidst wooden booths that are outfitted with with power outlets and WiFi capabilities. There’s also an additional 20 seats at the bar, which has 18 domestic and imported beers on draft. Antique Navy photos of the restaurant namesake, and the owner’s grandfather, adorn the walls along with five flat-screen TVs.
There are two event spaces tailored to private events: the Bridge and the Boiler Room. The Bridge is a traditional private dining room with seating for 40 and WiFi capabilities. Receptions for as many as 60 can also be hosted here.
Located in the basement of the restaurant, the Boiler Room will open in late April outfitted with games for a variety of tastes including pool tables and video games like Wii and Xbox 360. The room will also have its own bar, multiple televisions, and be able to host private parties for as many as 100, with seating for 60. An enclosed patio that can host 25 is set to open in the coming months.
Chef Michael Degginger designed the menu with influences from American, Thai, Mexican, South American, Japanese, and Pan-Asian cuisine. Items range from a classic Black Angus burger, chicken sandwich, and Kansas City strip steak with mashed potatoes and green beans, to the more adventurous Samuari Burger with teriyaki glaze, pineapple chutney, and Swiss cheese.
Buyouts are available for groups as large as 400 people.
