2 New French Restaurants With Private Dining in Chicago

Jenny Berg
April 6, 2011

These new French restaurants can host private events or business dinners for intimate groups or hundreds of guests.

1. From the team behind Hub 51, Paris Club opened in River North in February. On the eve of the venue's opening, Groupon rented the entire space to host a 414-guest event; smaller areas are also available for private functions. Called the Salon Privé, a space that's adjacent to the main dining room can seat 80 for dinner or hold 100 for cocktails. With damask-covered walls, the salon can also be sectioned off into two rooms: The "Left Bank" can hold 50 for cocktails and 40 for seated dinners, and the "Right Bank" can seat 32 or hold 40 for a reception. This summer, a lounge with a retractable roof will open on the second floor; the space will be available for private events and will hold around 300. Catering packages include hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, chilled seafood and charcuterie stations, caviar service, and desserts such as mini apple strudels and pots de crème.

2. Bistronomic took over the former Eve space in the Gold Coast in February. Available for buyout, the space can seat 80. A semiprivate dining room in the back can host dinners for 34, while another semiprivate area off the main dining room can seat 16. Chef Martial Nouguier oversees the private dining menus, which change seasonally. Selections may include tuna tartare with lemon confit and pepper vinaigrette, curried chicken brochettes, filet of beef au poivre, and black and white crème brûlée.
