For the launch of her new cookbook, Lynn Crawford took a page out of her own book, so to speak. Monday's event at the chef's east-end restaurant, Ruby Watchco, not only gave guests a first look at Lynn Crawford's Pitchin' In but also served some of the hors d'oeuvres featured in the 100-recipe tome. Waitstaff circulated plates of her home-style fare, including prosciutto-wrapped shrimp, wild boar mac 'n' cheese, and crab cakes, while guests sipped on the "Pitchin’ In With Lynn" cocktail, made with spiced rum, carrot puree, apple and lime juice, ginger syrup, and brown butter. The new drink will be added to the menu at Ruby Watchco.
The event attracted 135 members of the media, bloggers, on-air personalities, and friends. Crawford was onsite mingling with guests and signing cookbooks, which were available for purchase. The book compiles recipes from the first two seasons of her Food Network television show, Pitchin’ In, where Crawford travels across North America, working with local farmers to find the best ingredients.
