The Excalibur Hotel & Casino became the latest property to host a musician-backed venue with the opening of the new Lynyrd Skynyrd BBQ & Beer. The grand-opening events spanned a week, kicking off on the first day of the National Finals Rodeo on December 1 and wrapping with a concert by Lynyrd Skynyrd on December 8. The venue is available for buyout with a capacity of 400.
The 8,000-square-foot restaurant and bar transforms into a high-energy rock club by night with music and entertainment. The staff is part of the action: Bartenders and servers lead singalongs to classic rock songs and Lynyrd Skynyrd favorites.
The restaurant offers up Southern-inspired barbecue, like pork and beef ribs, brisket, chicken, and signature sausages. Side dishes are Texas-inspired, with braised Southern greens, hush puppies, mac and cheese, baked beans, corn succotash, coleslaw, and potato salad. Dessert selections include white-chocolate bread pudding served with Jack Daniel’s caramel sauce, pecan pie, Blue Bell ice cream, and seasonal cobbler.
Walls are made of authentic, 150-year-old barnyard wood, with concrete floors and aged brick completing the down-home feel of the space. The tables are made from floors of historic grain barns, and the surface texture has hoof marks from generations of stock animals. Tabletops are made of rough-faced, old-growth Doug fir from a 1927 Brentwood house, Los Angeles church and other historic sites from the pre-World War II era.
The venue is the third venture for Drive This! Entertainment, whose other projects include Tacos & Tequila at Luxor Hotel and Casino and Rhumbar at the Mirage.
