Warner Brothers International Television Distribution Gala

Around 1,500 guests, including broadcasters from more than 170 countries, turned out at the Warner Brothers Studio lot in Los Angeles May 23 for a presentation of Warner Brothers Television Group’s offerings. In addition to a giant flaming voodoo doll and burning coals, the event included an entertainer known as Tesla, who performed on an elevated 17- by 40-foot truss frame using electrical currents generated from a 15-foot tesla coil.

Ciroc Cabana Club

Malin Akerman and Amy Smart hosted the second annual Ciroc Cabana Club on Saturday at Skybar at the Mondrian to kick off Memorial Day weekend in Los Angeles. Artist Greogory Siff created a step-and-repeat for the event, meant to celebrate the brand's partnership with Art of Elysium and pay tribute to the 10 blocks and 10 decades of the Sunset Strip.

Disney Media Distribution International Upfront

Disney Media Distribution brought about 650 guests to Walt Disney Studios in Los Angeles for its international upfront on May 20—and for the first time included a red carpet and invited outside media.

Sunglass Hut Summer Block Party

Sunglass Hut opened its largest store ever May 23 with a ribbon-cutting starring model Chanel Iman and a party that evening on the seventh floor of the 11 11 Lincoln Road, an outdoor venue with skyline views. The party featured family-friendly games, including corn hole, bocce ball, ping-pong, hopscotch, and a chalk-coloring area, all plastered in the event’s logo. Other activities that celebrities such as Gabrielle Union participated in included a life-size chess board and pop-a-shot basketball game. Pop duo Karmin performed.

Pencer Brain Trust Gala

Pencer Brain Trust hosted its annual fund-raiser on Thursday in Toronto. The rock ’n’ roll-themed gala had a decidedly edgier vibe this year. Inspired by the Viper Room in L.A., red lighting and black furniture filled the main party space. LED screens on a four-sided truss structure looped video of flames.

Eurovision Song Contest Viewing Party

The massively popular Eurovision Song Contest was not broadcast on American television, but fans could find it at a viewing party at the Austrian Embassy Saturday. Sponsored by the Washington, D.C., Cluster of the European Union National Institutes for Culture, the event drew nearly 300 people to watch it on an 18-foot screen with Dolby surround sound. Red Bull sponsored a bar, and guests received a free drink upon entry.

Hudson River Park Trust’s Spring Gala

To highlight the various recreational activities that take place in the New York park, Tuesday’s gala for the Hudson River Park Trust on Pier 26 included centerpieces of bicycle wheels and jogging shoes as well as a ceiling decorated with paddle wheels and geese.

New Balance Fall 2012 Preview

On Wednesday, New Balance introduced its new fall gear with a preview at Studio 580's Black Loft in New York. Inspired by the netting on the footwear collection, producers built functional displays that attendees could open and lift to reveal products and poster ads.

Indy 500 Soiree

New events surrounding the Indianapolis 500 included Friday night's Indy 500 Soiree, presented by IndyCar and Lucas Oil. The event raised funds for Garth Brooks' charity, Teammates for Kids Foundation. Brooks and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, were among the 700 guests.

'Top Chef': The Tour

Top Chef: The Tour rolled into Boston’s Fanueil Hall Marketplace on May 22 and 23, letting guests witness live cooking competitions from former contestants on the show. The activation also offered games including Tip the Scale, where fans were tasked with putting items in order of their weight onto a scale, a horseshoe toss, and a corn hole toss—all chosen to evoke a country fair in Texas, where Top Chef's last season was shot.
