10 New Venues in San Francisco for Spring Meetings and Events

Jenna BerrisBeth Kormanik
April 30, 2013

Here's a look at the best new and renovated venues in San Francisco for spring such as corporate event venues, party rooms, conference centers, restaurants with private rooms, unique venues, and more. These event and meeting spaces can accommodate groups large or small for business dinners, cocktail parties, conferences, and private and corporate events.

7. Hutong

Cow Hollow's 18-year-old Asian restaurant Betelnut reopened as Hutong following a menu and decor update in March. The concept, which includes a new oven, will serve flatbread pizzas, small plates, street-food-style dishes, and a few raw items. Cosmetic updates include antique, graffiti-covered walls, bamboo-backed chairs and accents, and decor inspired by the streets of Hong Kong. A private room can accommodate as many as 36 people.

Viceroy Hotel Group opened Hotel Zetta in February following a stylish renovation of the former Hotel Milano. The SoMa district hotel has more than 2,760 square feet of event space. The 1,672-square-foot Play lounge is equipped with flat-screen TVs, Mac computers, a shuffleboard table, and a British telephone booth for ordering room service. Smaller spaces, such as the 29-person Demo meeting room, are suited for product pitching, and the Lumen room seats 15 people around a wooden conference table.

SoMa district winery Tank 18 opened its 300-person tasting room in January. The 6,000-square-foot room is eco-friendly and features a recycled wood interior and old crates that function as tables and chairs. Cheese, charcuterie, and other snacks are available, as is the option to host food trucks. Tank 18 can make custom wine-bottle labels for events.

A new cocktail bar, Trick Dog opened in January in the mission district. With a name inspired by a vintage piggy bank—on display at the bar—the two-level space has a playful vibe. Each of the signature cocktails is named after an official Pantone color and has a complementing bar snack on the menu. Drinking vinegars, bitters, syrups, and tinctures are made in-house. The 1,750-square-foot space has a capacity of 100. Full buyouts or a partial buyout of the 30-person upstairs space are available.

Featuring a wood-fired Valorini oven, an Italian import, the restaurant offers buyouts inside for 100 seated guests and on the patio for 50. The outside dining area features fire pits and a view of the bay.

The venue now features Easter Acoustic Work's audio equipment and updated power and processing capabilities, a combination that generates an output of 50,000 watts of sound. The new audio system can be used for events of as many as 500 people in Mighty's 6,000 square feet of urban industrial space. The main room holds 450 people reception-style below the building's 22-foot ceilings. Presentations, smaller meetings, and product launches for as many as 70 guests are held in a side room.
