California Science Center Discovery Ball

California Science Center’s annual Discovery Ball took place March 15. The benefit was themed around the center’s newest exhibit, “Dogs! A Science Tail." In a fun twist on a champagne wall, servers wearing sock puppets offered glasses to guests from behind green hedging. The puppets were custom-designed by Melissa Leitch of Puppetude. 'Good Omens' Garden of Earthly Delights at SXSW

Amazon Prime’s activation, focused on its upcoming series Good Omens, depicted a secret garden with good and evil aspects from author Neil Gaiman’s source material. In addition to costumed entertainers, there were apples with written prophecies, a re-creation of the show's bookstore with a photo op, the Hellhound Puppy Pen with adoptable dogs from the Austin Animal Center (all were adopted by the end of the activation), and manicures with Butter London nail polish. The hub was produced by experiential marketing agency CSM LeadDog. See more here: SXSW 2019: Creative Brand Engagement Ideas from Amazon Prime, UberEats, Lululemon, and More

ADP's Smash the Ceiling at SXSW

HR software company ADP and Wired magazine allowed people to physically break through workplace barriers. Guests had to answer the question of “What are you #WorkingFor?” with four choices, which led to different scenarios, like breaking the glass ceiling or finding work/life balance. They were suited up in protective gear (jumpsuits, goggles, helmets, gloves, boots) and picked a weapon (bats, golf clubs, sledgehammers). The destruction was captured with cameras, resulting in a slow-motion video. Fresh Wata produced the activation. Diffa's Dining by Design

Dining by Design’s 10th year of co-location with the Architectural Digest Design Show took place March 21 to 25 at Pier 92 in New York. This year also marked the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS' 35th anniversary. The vignette by Gensler, Knoll, and EvensonBest, titled “You Are Beautiful,” was designed as a reminder to those living with HIV/AIDS that they are beautiful and not alone in their fight. Flanked by wooden cut-out panels with block lettering, the table-long ceiling installation was comprised of translucent and clear beach balls. HBO’s the Inspiration Room

For Women’s History Month, HBO celebrated the power and diversity of the female narrative with a pop-up that showcased real diary entries through art, video, and audio installations. The pop-up, which took place March 18 to 24 at a vacant space in New York’s SoHo neighborhood, included a ticker installation inspired by the stream-of-consciousness associated with writing down thoughts in a diary. The installation was designed with the intention of giving a sense of live thoughts and journaling in real time. See more here: Why HBO Created an Exhibit of Actual Diary Entries
